Jesus > Religion

by Jeff Bathke

Youtube sensation overnight. Skeptical. Watched the video. Won over.

I have heard much about Jeff Bethke and his “poem” on youtube. I finally got around to checking it out and I was so impressed. I thought that it was awesome to see someone who really, REALLY gets it! Still, good at poetry and making videos, not sure if this book will be full of filler to ride the waves of fame.

Absolutely not. This is one of THE BEST “Christian Living” books I have read (well, technically listened to as I drove to visit my parents in NY). This book is full of so many truths and an incredible insight into God’s heart. I don’t care what stage of life you are in, or where you are in your walk with God. Anyone can get something out of this book. I try to live my life “to the glory of God”. I get what he’s saying, but sometimes it just takes hearing it again, and in a different way, to remind you of the truth.

Please pick up a copy of this book! It is absolutely powerful and full of the SIMPLICITY of being a Christian. I am not saying that Christianity is easy, I am saying that we don’t have to do anything besides surrender to Him because we aren’t the pursuers, we are the pursued.

Link to the book is in the pic above. You can also get a free audio version  of this book (plus one more book) FOR FREE!!!

Thank you, netgalley, for getting this book to me. As always, this is my honest opinion. Here’s to many more!

  1. I first saw this video about a year ago. One of my friends sent me the link. Back then I was a little on the defensive while watching this video. I had never heard it said that way before and I didn’t like everything he said nor did I agree with it all. Some of my perceptions still contradicts his, but I understand what he means. I believe I have grown a lot in my faith during this past year.

Back then I told my friend that I told my friend that I believe that some people resent religion because of the way the believers act. But to me we shouldn’t blame the religion for the flaws of men. As Jefferson said people tend to put on a cover, they say they are Christians, but they don’t act like it. I don’t think we should blame religion for that though. Because these people too often don’t have the faith or simply make choices knowing they are wrong.

Faith is something personal. Jesus came to save us, but for that to happen we have to accept him and God in our hearts. The problem is when people say they are Christians, but don’t open their heart to Jesus and God.

Overall, I agree with what Jefferson says although some of it I wouldn’t have phrased the same way.

I didn’t know he had written a book though. I’ll make sure to check it out 🙂
