1. What’s your favorite historical site to visit?
Erica – This is ridiculously difficult. I love ALL THE SITES. If I have to choose just one, I’m going to say Historic Forestville, in SE Minnesota. It’s an amazingly wonderful place.
Charity – I have never heard of it! Looks beautiful 🙂 I definitely have to go with Yorktown, VA. It’s where the Revolutionary War was won! BooYah!!! It’s, also, so beautiful and relaxing. I spent many years there in the Fife and Drum Corp (as a DRUMMER, of course!)
— I am totally taking that point. I mean, it’s the birthplace of America as we know it!

2. Who is your historical “crush”?
Erica – Winston Churchill. A fascinating and brilliant man, witty and wise and determined.
Charity – Definitely George Washington!!
— Hmm. This is a tough one. I will have to give us a tie!

3. What’s the WORST Christian phrase that is totally embarrassing to hear?
Erica – When it is ripped out of context and used right after a tragedy, “God works all things together for good.”
Charity – Ohhhh…Yes. I agree. That is really bad. I guess they forget the whole James 1:2-4 “Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.”
Or 1 Peter 4:12-19 “Friends, when life gets really difficult, don’t jump to the conclusion that God isn’t on the job. Instead, be glad that you are in the very thick of what Christ experienced. This is a spiritual refining process, with glory just around the corner. If you’re abused because of Christ, count yourself fortunate. It’s the Spirit of God and his glory in you that brought you to the notice of others. If they’re on you because you broke the law or disturbed the peace, that’s a different matter. But if it’s because you’re a Christian, don’t give it a second thought. Be proud of the distinguished status reflected in that name! It’s judgment time for God’s own family. We’re first in line. If it starts with us, think what it’s going to be like for those who refuse God’s Message! If good people barely make it, what’s in store for the bad? So if you find life difficult because you’re doing what God said, take it in stride. Trust him. He knows what he’s doing, and he’ll keep on doing it.”
I mean, it didn’t work out too well for Jesus…

My least favorite are, “I will pray a hedge of protection around you” and “I will pray for traveling mercies”. WHO talks like that???

4. What was your favorite song/band in high school?
Erica – My favorite song was Guitars & Cadillacs by Dwight Yoakum
Charity – Oh my! Sounds very…Twangy!! Hmm.
I was a big fan of the song, More Than Words by Extreme. Of course, looking back…it wasn’t the worst I could have picked from the late 80’s/early 90’s. I prefer Jack Black and Jimmy Fallon’s version though!

Someone gave it to my hubby for Christmas one year. I watched the trailer and that was enough!!!

6. If you lived in the 1800’s, would you have ever considered being a mail order bride?
Erica – I would hope it wouldn’t come to that, but most Mail-order Brides thought they had no other choice. If I needed to provide for myself and or my children, I would consider it.
Charity – You never know. This could be the guy waiting for you at the end of the line.

7. Do you like your prom or graduation pics or would you like to see them BURN? Feel like sharing?
Erica – I didn’t have a prom (small Christian School.) My graduation pictures…I wish I was that young and thin, but the 80’s padded shoulders and big hair should be resigned to forgotten memory. 😀
Charity – I didn’t have one either. Homeschooler *Cue the nerd music* Thankfully, I didn’t wear anything too scary for my senior pics. Only a shimmery pink blouse. 😮

8. How do you strive to bring God the most glory in your life?
Erica – For me, I’m on a journey of learning more about God’s grace. About giving grace to others and accepting grace. It’s such a freeing, God-honoring, happy place to be.
Charity – Yes, it’s always about finding that balance. Love it!

9. What is the worst fairy tale that you know of?
Erica – I would have to say, The Little Mermaid. She has to change pretty much everything about herself in order to find love. And I don’t like fish.

Erica – With enough sauce, sure! 😀
Charity – OMGosh. haha. I agree about the Sweet and Sour sauce on them. Yum-o. However, they scare me to death. I am just not sure about what it is I’m eating.
