This lady has authored a huge number of books, articles, devotions, and short stories. It’s absolutely amazing looking through the list of things she has written!
Here is a small sampling:
Myra has spent a lot of time working on YA literature and articles, but now spends her time writing grown up stuff! 🙂 Her current focus is on Women’s Fiction. Now that her kiddos are adults, she lives with her hubby and two rescue dogs ❤ So sweet!!
Let’s get to this, shall we?
The rules are simple. I ask Myra some random questions. She replies and then I give my answers. Each winning answer is worth one point and I get to decide whose answer is better.

Here we go!
1. Did any of your relatives go West in a covered wagon?
Myra – If they did, they never told me. I think most of my ancestors stopped around St. Louis. A couple of my aunts moved to California, but I’m pretty sure they got there by car.
Charity – Oh oh!! I get this one!! My Grandma (not Great Grandma, but my Dad’s Mother) moved West on a covered wagon!!! It was part of a wagon train. Isn’t that unbelievable!!! (yes, I am a lot older than I look….). It blows my mind!

2. What’s the perfect day (OUT of the house) look like to you?
Myra – Spending time with either or both of my girls and their families. The beach, the zoo, a drive through the mountains—any outing with the Grandkids is always lots of fun! If it’s just hubby and me, we enjoy an afternoon at the movies followed by dinner at one of our favorite casual restaurants, like Chili’s or Pei Wei.
Charity – Oh, I adore you. When hubby and I have a night out, Chili’s is our go to restaurant!! Can’t beat… Now I am hungry! We always go see a movie too.
I cannot wait for Grandkids. My son is a senior this year and I keep asking him if he wants to get married and give me some Grandbabies. haha 🙂 He wants to be a pastor, so he doesn’t feel any need to “find himself”.

3. Are you good at fishing?
Myra – You mean with a rod and reel and . . . bait??? As a teenager, I did do some fishing in the canal near our rural home. I caught a mess of perch once and fed them to some stray cats. The last time I remember going fishing was probably in the early 1980s. We were vacationing at the Gulf Coast and caught some catfish. Our younger daughter was really excited about the catch until she realized we actually had to kill the fish before we could take them home to cook!
Oh, and once—ONLY ONCE!—hubby and I went on a deep-sea fishing trip. We both caught small sharks. And a bad case of “green around the gills.”
Charity – Wow!! Now, that is IMPRESSIVE! I am too high maintenance to fish…*shudder*

4. Are you crafty? Last thing you made? Pics?
Myra – Okay, that would involve art supplies, right? About a million years ago, I made macramé plant hangers. Then I was into folk art for a while and painted some cute wooden signs. I’ve done cross-stitch and tried crewel embroidery, also decades ago! Last really “crafty” thing I did was paint some pottery at one of those trendy shops. I think this heart-shaped candy dish turned out pretty cute, don’t you?
Charity – haha. That is totally cute! I am not in love with crafts. Well, some kinds. I can’t even handle scrapbooking for a minute!!! I do enjoy some types though.
I made this super cute iPad case last year. Love it!

5. Where were you when you found out your first book was being picked up by a publisher?
Myra – At my desk in my upstairs office. That was in 2008, and the process began with a series of emails. First, my editor let me know she was taking the story to the publishing board. Then one day she emailed that she would be calling later with the official contract offer. I think I screamed. At least my husband says I did. He also thought the roof was caving in because of how I was jumping up and down and stomping on the floor.
Charity – So exciting!! I can imagine you would be out of your mind!!!!

6. Do you cook the big meal on Thanksgiving? What do you make?
Myra – Cook???? Wait, are you looking at ME???? My idea of the perfect Thanksgiving is to chill out and throw a pizza or frozen lasagna in the oven.Then have store-bought pumpkin pie for dessert. I love a good meal as much as the next person, but seriously, to spend hours and hours and hours in a hot kitchen, especially on a holiday??? What is wrong with this picture???

7. Who, from the Bible, are you most excited to meet in Heaven?
Myra – Number one, hands down, is Jesus. There is so much I want to ask Him when we meet face-to-face, and just to spend time in His presence . . . what more can I say?
Charity – Oh my stars. You pulled the Jesus card!! That was supposed to be a given. *sigh* I can’t wait either. I just want to sit in His lap for eternity!!!!! ❤ ❤ ❤

8. How do you strive to bring God the most glory in your life?
Myra – I try to write books that honor Him and bring a little hope, inspiration, and encouragement to my readers. I believe God gave me the desire and the talent to write. He expects me not to squander this gift and to trust Him fully for the results. I work extra-hard to remember this whenever discouragement strikes in the form of rejections or negative reviews and I start to think about giving up. He’s lifted me up more than once with exactly what I needed at that moment to continue on in faith.
Charity – Love it! That is really awesome. I know that author’s really struggle with that. Heck, we all struggle with discouragement and mean people!!!

9. Mail order bride: worst case scenario?
Myra – You’ve stumped me on this one. Point goes to Charity!

10. Could you live the lifestyle of the Amish for a month?
Myra – You mean give up my microwave, computer, and smartphone? I don’t think I’d last a week!

And now a question for Charity:
Myra – Who’s the most famous person you’ve actually met? What were the circumstances?
Charity – Hmm. I have met a few fancy people…but, I think the most fun story is when I was a teenager.
This was almost 25 years ago. I was in the Yorktown Fife and Drum corp and we were asked to be in the movie production of Andersonville.
Thomas Wilson (you probably know him as Biff, from Back to the Future) was one of the main stars of the film. He was a nice guy and he did something fun…He knocked on my head and did the whole “McFly” routine. It was great…except that it hurt a bit! 😮
