Happiness According to Jesus – What it Means to be Blessed

by Bobby Schuller We all know that the Sermon on the Mount is a very controversial text. To someone that has been a Christ follower, it is basically second nature to quote it. However, looking in on our relationship with God from an outsider’s point of view, it sounds like shackles.

Bobby takes a look at the flip side of that coin. What if following God’s “rules” was actually freedom? What if it was the key to happiness instead of the key that locks us in a cage? This is such an important topic and I am glad to see a book focusing in on it. I am a firm believer in the “Freedom in Christ” idea. This book breaks down the Sermon on the Mount and looks at the ways it can cause happiness in your life.

Thank you, Worthy, for this great book! As always, this is my honest opinion. Here’s to many more!!

So full of answered prayers

It’s amazing how God works. Four years ago, I was an Area Manager in a prosperous business. I had everything going for me. I was all in! The problem was, I was having a hard time squeezing God in. I was scared to because I didn’t want to hear Him tell me that my job is not what I am supposed to be doing. “But it’s perfect! I can still homeschool! I can handle it!”. IMG_2021

Finally, FINALLY, I sat and listened to what I already knew. It was time to quit. Quit? And then what? God said, “Quit and write”. ???? Write? So, I shared with my husband and he suggested that I start a blog. I thought that was a cool idea, so I started my first blog over at http://www.aTransParentMom.blogspot.com

It did well, but I wasn’t committed to it. After a couple years of floundering around, I asked God what I needed to be doing differently. Through some different avenues, I came across the huge need for bloggers that can review books.

So, let me get this straight…I get free books BEFORE they come out? I get to talk to and interview authors? Yes, please!!! After switching over to wordpress a few months ago and getting serious about blogging, I have seen an explosion of growth in only a few months!!!

With my health as it is, God gave me the perfect job. It’s truly amazing. Always follow Him. He created us. He knows what will bring us the greatest joy. We may not see the path, but that’s why it’s faith. Faith that He wants the best for us. Faith that He loves us and wants to lead us to our greatest happiness which is His greatest glory.

psalm 13This is the most amazing verse to me. It is David as he is going through some horribly difficult times. In fact, the first couple of verses in this chapter say, “Long enough, God – you’ve ignored me long enough. I’ve looked at the back of your head long enough. Long enough I’ve carried this ton of trouble, lived with a stomach full of pain. Long enough my arrogant enemies have looked down their noses at me.”

He continues with, “Take a good look at me, God, my God; I want to look life in the eye, so no enemy can get the best of me or laugh when I fall on my face.”

He then finishes with this BEAUTIFUL ending of being full of answered prayers. So. Incredibly. Beautiful. There is nothing I want more than to seek my Jesus because only He can lead me to sing at the top of my lungs because I’m so full of answered prayers.
