Oh, yeah! It’s time for an EPIC FACE-OFF between Elizabeth and Charity (don’t worry about me speaking in the first person. It won’t happen again!).
Rules are simple. I ask Elizabeth a question. She gives me her answer, I reply. Whoever has the better answer gets 1 point. I decide who has the better answer.
It’s my blog.
Here we go!!
1. Have you ever met someone with the name Precious, or anything odd like that?
Elizabeth – I once knew a college professor whose name was ‘December Green.’ She was a really nice lady, but it was a little odd for such a professional woman.
Charity – Hmm. Yes, that is odd. It’s quite tragic, really. I knew two girls, sisters, named Summer and Winter. Totally weird. Never met a Precious though. At the store, a couple of weeks ago, a Diamond was helping me out. Oh, I GOT IT!! I GOT THIS POINT. OK, my Mother in Law just retired, but was a teacher. One of her students….get this. His name was: Thunder Rolling Down a Mountain
No. Joke.

2. What is your favorite Starbucks drink?
Elizabeth – McDonald’s Coffee. I’m just too thrifty to shop at Starbucks.
Charity – hmm. I do love McDonald’s Mochas!! YUM! I also love it in the fall because Starbucks has a Salted Caramel Mocha. OMGoodness. That is where it’s AT!
— Thriftiness does win over lack of self control 😦 boooooooo!

3. Do you have any serious phobias?
Elizabeth – I’ve got all kind of social phobias, mostly cured, but when I was little I simply couldn’t talk to strangers, clung to my Dad’s leg, all that stuff. Even in high school I had it pretty bad, but in college I majored in Theater because it forced me out of my comfort zone. That was HUGE. I learned to fake social confidence. I call myself a “stealth nerd.” I can confidently go into any situation and be poised and lead a conversation with anyone from a state congressman to a janitor. I’m good at it, but to this day it isn’t easy. I simply smile and ask a lot of questions, and people love talking about themselves, so it works out well.
Charity – LOL. I totally get that! I feel the same way. I just ask a question and off they go. But, I am truly interested in their lives, which causes them to tell me more. That’s nice. I love “listening” to people and letting them get things off their chest. I am always really freaked out when I go home after hanging out with someone. I’m like…..Did I say something stupid. blah blah blah. So, I hear you!!

4. If you knew you would succeed and be prosperous, would you become a lion tamer?
Elizabeth – No, nein, non! There are more important things than success and prospering….keeping myself away from terrifying animals is one of them! I’m too prissy to ever enjoy them.
Charity – Ha ha ha. That was truly the most random question. I don’t think I could do it either!!! I love that you said you are “too prissy” ha ha! That’s awesome. Everyone calls me The Princess from The Princess and the Pea.

5. Home Style? Mod, Country, Colonial, or just a hodge podge of everything?
Elizabeth – Any room with lots of shelves loaded down with books feels like home to me.
Charity – Oh, I am super organized. I love Ikea, for that very reason. Our home is basically one big Ikea showroom. So, I have to go with mod to cozy…?
— How to win? Tie again…?
6. Favorite historical movie?
Elizabeth – Check out Mountains of the Moon, a great historical movie based on real life adventurers in Victorian Africa. Romantic, inspiring, heart-breaking, funny, and beautiful.
Charity – I have never heard of it! I will. I wonder if it’s on Netflix or Amazon Prime….
I really love this series that came out in the 80’s. It was made for TV, but Barry Bostwick and Patty Duke starred in it and it was about the life of George Washington. Absolutely awesome! Goes from him as a child through his death. It’s hours upon hours.
— We can’t seem to outdo each other…
7. Have you ever seen a shark, or been swimming near one (since you live in Florida)?
Elizabeth – No, but I regularly see alligators, snakes, and bugs the size of my palm.
Charity – Wait…WHAT????? WHY?
— no contest there…

8. Biblical character you most relate to?
Elisabeth – I think Peter the Apostle. His heart was in the right place, but he suffered from fear and anxiety, and was often overshadowed by the more articulate and prolific Paul.
Charity – OMGosh. You did not just say Peter. ha ha ha. I have the same answer. I feel like I just want to jump at whatever God says and not even think!!! It’s ridiculous!!! I love Him so much, you know?! I would say David too. I pray a lot like he did.
— Ridiculous tie!
9. What is your favorite restaurant?
Elizabeth – McDonalds. See above! My husband and I spend every Saturday morning there, readingthe paper, drinking coffee, and shooting the breeze. We occupy the same booth for hours, and the management never tries to nudge us away. We love the place!
Charity – Do you even realize how much I love you right now? When I was a teenager, I used to say, “I know I have found my soulmate when he takes me on a date to McDonalds. LOL!!!! Now, I still love McDonalds, but Chili’s is our go to date night restaurant.
— This is getting silly!
10. Real, actual, Bible at church, or do you use an iPad Bible?
Elizabeth – Real bible! I downloaded it once to my iPad, but it was too difficult to use.
Charity – I may as well say “ditto” to everything you say.

11. Lastly, What’s the first thing you want to do when you get to Heaven?
Elizabeth – I’d love to meet my grandfather. He died when I was 12, so I was never able to have a real conversation with him….but he was an amazing man! He only had a 4th grade education, having dropped out of school to help support his family back in the 1910’s before there were decent social safety nets. Anyway, he went on to go to night school, and rose very high in the business world. When he retired in the 1960’s he was on the Board of Directors for a Fortune 100 company. He had an amazing life story, but I was too young to ask him the kind of questions I’d really like to know.
Charity – Oh wow! That is incredible!!! I’m telling you, girl…All I care about is running up into Jesus’ arms and never leaving!!!!!! I’m going to sit on His lap and be a God hog for all eternity. Just snuggle on in!!!!
FINAL:

I enjoyed learning more about Elizabeth since she is one of my favorite authors. It’s interesting that you both have so much in common.
I follow your blog and Elizabeth’s. I get them both delivered by e-mail. I’ve read all of Elizabeth’s books except Beyond All Dreams and With Every Breath; those are on my wish list.
I’ve tried to condense all the Rafflecopter responses into one comment here instead of commenting on every one, so I hope I haven’t forgotten anything. Thanks for the interview with Elizabeth and for giving away a copy of Beyond All Dreams. I’d love to win!

Ok let’s see if I remember everything I’m suppose to count for the Rafflecopter…and go…….
My favorite part of this face off…..is I can honestly answer the question ” Have you ever seen a shark, or been swimming near one (since you live in Florida)?” as a big YES! Haha…wasn’t as scary as you may be thinking!! Husband & I went to California last year for our anniversary vacation. We went to visit the Redwood Forest (my first time ever in Cali) & while we were there we went to the Aquarium. Well, it just so happens that they have a small tank that you can pet…yes I said pet….the sharks! Now I know what you are thinking (YIKES!)…but they were non-biting sharks…two leopard sharks & a nurse shark. Their mouths are on the bottom, kind of like the sucker fish you see in fish tanks. The one nurse shark was very insistent on being petted, she loved swimming by anyone who had their hand under water, she’d rub up against you. Her skin was like the smoothest leather…that was the most awesome experience!! I’d do it again 🙂
Secondly: I follow your blog, Elizabeth Camden’s blog, both of your Facebook pages (Trixi Oberembt) & the other book that looks most interesting on Elizabeth’s website is “Against the Tide”. My sister-in-law has lent me her copy but I haven’t gotten to it yet. It is most definitely on my to-read list!
I think that about covers it, if I missed anything…please let me know! Thanks for the wonderful face-off and a chance to win “Beyond All Dreams” Oh and I loved the part when you both called yourselves “prissy & Princess from Princess & the pea)….those are far from what anyone would call me…LOL!! I’m too much of a tomboy 😉 Isn’t it grand that God made us all different?
