by Rachelle Dekker
Following in the footsteps of the huge dystopian trend, Ted Dekker’s daughter releases her debut novel with a SMASH. Carrington Hale is at the top of her class and absolutely beautiful, so when she is not chosen as a bride everyone is dumbfounded. She’s quickly swept away by the city guards to live her life as a servant and nobody.
Beautifully written and spiritually deep. Through the ups and downs Carrington goes through, she learns that she is not a nobody but deeply full of worth. It’s a great coming of age book that shows we are all worth God’s time. What a great message. I definitely recommend if you are into books like The Hunger Games, Divergent series, Mazerunner and other like books.
I was curious as to whether or not this book would be really dark like her father’s books. There were very dark moments that were hard to take, but it never boarded on demonism or other dark issues like that. It was simply good verses evil.
Thank you for this fabulous read in exchange for my review. As always, this is my honest opinion. Here’s to many more!!
